The name “NIDO Americas” refers to the continental Organization known as Nigerians in Diaspora Organization Americas (NIDO Americas), Inc. The organization comprises the two continents of North America and South America and a continental arm of NIDO worldwide.
Nigerians in Diaspora Organization (NIDO) is the single representative body recognized by the Federal Government of Nigeria as an umbrella body for Nigerian Citizens in Diaspora, where the federal policy mandates all Nigeria’s global missions overseas to support the development of the organization; NIDO provides a unique platform for intellectuals, technocrats, policy makers, workers and all Nigerians in Diaspora to present development propositions to government at all levels.
NIDO America’s mission is to promote the spirit of patriotism, networking, and cooperation among Nigerians in the Diaspora, for their individual and collective success in the countries of the Americas where they reside, and to mobilize the vast resources of manpower and machinery toward building a greater Nigeria.
NIDO is a Federal Government supported organization but is not sponsored or financed by the Federal Government of Nigeria;
NIDO is a platform for Nigerians in Diaspora to contribute a quota to the socio-economic development of the nation and offers opportunities for professional engagement at the Federal, Regional and State Levels;
NIDO is a recognized platform for Nigerians in Diaspora to contribute to Macro-Economic Policy Development as well as Infrastructural and Developmental Projects all over Nigeria. The Government of Nigeria recognizes the organization as the official platform through which Nigerians in Diaspora, their Community Organizations, and Corporate Bodies can channel their developmental efforts to Nigeria;
NIDO assists in promoting Nigeria;
NIDO also assists in promoting Nigeria as an investment destination in Africa;
In this sense, the organization partners Nigerian Communities / Professional Organizations as well as public and private businesses in focused areas such as Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), professional networking, stakeholder advocacy, medical missions, educational support and skills transfer to Nigeria.
NIDO’s current focus is on professional networking, social advocacy, education, healthcare, technological and economic empowerment, as well as skills and cultural exchange projects.
NIDO holds conferences, meetings, and other events for members in order to provide quality networking, promotion, and awareness opportunities. Many of these events are also open to all Diaspora Nigerians and friends of Nigeria
Nigerians in Diaspora Organization Americas (NIDOA) was formed in 2000-2001 with a vision to harness the tremendous skill, exposure, expertise and knowledgebase of Nigerians resident outside Nigeria with a view to using this as a resource base to promote socio-economic and infrastructural development back in Nigeria.
a) To provide a forum for research, discussion, and exploration of new businesses, educational and investment opportunities in Nigeria and the Americas.
b) To build and operate a database of Nigerians with skills and make such a database available to the public and private sectors.
c) To provide educational, scientific, and investment advisory services to benefit the public and private sectors in Nigeria
d) To encourage collaboration among Nigerians based on the pressing economic, educational, social and cultural issues facing Nigerians.
e) To encourage research, education, and the involvement of business and scientific community, Industry, Government, and others in the promotion of business and investment in Nigeria and the Americas.
f) To educate Nigerians and the public at large concerning the business and investment opportunities in Nigeria and the Americas.
g) To enhance the image of Nigeria with a view to promoting business, travel, and investment opportunities.
h) To raise and receive funds for the support and enhancement of the purposes stated above.
i) To celebrate the success of Diaspora Nigerians and their contributions to the national economies of their host countries.
j) To seek, encourage and/or leverage the talents of diaspora Nigerians wherever possible.
